Prepare the entity record before the deadline
SAM.gov registration is an organizational control, not a last-minute form. Assign accountable people, verify the legal record, and leave time for validation.
Official guidance reviewed August 30, 2026. SAM.gov states that organizations applying directly for federal awards need an active entity registration, that Login.gov manages sign-in credentials, and that registrations must be renewed every 365 days. SAM.gov also advises that activation can take time. Always follow the current instructions on SAM.gov Entity Registration and the applicable opportunity.
